Ethical Governance of Biological and Biomedical Research: Chinese - European Co-operation

The fourth and final BIONET workshop is set to take place in Shenzhen from 27 to 30 April 2009 on the topic of "Biobanks and genomic research" and hosted by the Beijing Genomics Institute. Around 50 participants from China and Europe will gather to discuss and deliberate on some of the key ethical challenges surrounding international collaborations in biobanking and genomic research including informed consent practices, privacy, confidentiality, benefit sharing and traceability.

In the last 2 years, BIONET has organised events focusing on issues of ethical governance in advanced biological and biomedical research, especially as regards Chinese-European bioscience collaboration. These events have covered the topics of Assisted Reproductive Technologies, Stem Cell Research and Clinical Trials.
